Sanctuary
Listening to commentary while I screencap season 1. Amanda, Martin and Damian should come with a warning label. They make me laugh. A lot. _________________ Twitter me this |

Surrogates Bruce Willis investigates the first murder in some years as the villain killed the surrogate and the operator. An interesting look at the 'so called plastic culture' where everyone has to be beautiful.
Mesrine: Killer Instinct and Mesrine: Public Enemy No 1. Vincent Cassel stars as the real life French gangster Mesrine who was mowed down by machine gun fire from the French police at a traffic light in Paris in 1979. I am old enough that I remember the incident.
Mesrine escaped maximum security in Canada and France.
Army of Crime The Communist French resistance in WW2. Made up of Spanish, Italians, Armenians and Jews. It is a fascinating and slow burning tale.
District 9 Kicking myself for not seeing this in the cinema. Brilliant _________________ Beware the Tribble my dear when the moon is fat. |

Smoking Aces II Almost a reun of Smoking Aces with one person playing the same role as he did in the first film.
Pandorum Claustrophobia on a space ship. May not be to all tastes.
Jennifer's Body Megan Fox is a cheerleader possessed by a demon who goes around eating boys in order to keep looking good and ends up fighting her nest friend as a result. Quite fun.
Zombieland Another Zombie comedy and quite fun. There is a great cameo by a well known star that is great. _________________ Beware the Tribble my dear when the moon is fat. |

^ That would be nice!
I was thinking of going to see it. But the reviews are so unconvincing, still its probably pretty good, no matter what they say. "How to loose friends "had bad ones, but I really liked it. |

I will post a review in the Theatres and Movies thread where it belongs.
I will try and make it detailed but leave you wanting to see it.
Meanwhile I saw
The Men who Stare at Ghosts Ewan McGregor is a journalist lookin for a story when he meets George Clooney looking for his old mentor. Clooney was part of the First Earth Army that would use psi warfare to win battles. Very funny and worth a look.
All Saints Day: Boomtown Saints 2. and Boomtown Saints
I have had the latter a while and so finished that before starting the second one. Most of the cast is reunited from the first movie for the second.
The first film is how two Irish brothers become famous after taking down mafiosi from the Russian and Italian mobs. The police aided by special agent Willem Dafoe tries to work out what happened and how in order to catch them.
The second film is about the brothers returning to Boston after a priest is murdered. Julie Benz (from Buffy, Angel and Dexter) is the new special agent and she was an acolyte of Dafoe's character.
I liked both films but the first s better.
2012 BAD SCIENCE !!!!!! Good actors but oh Lord the science is poor. And Step Dad MUST DIE ! Sheesh enough with the cliches.
Nine This is the musical with Daniel Day Lewis playing a director in early 60s Italy. His mother is played by Sophia Loren who looks fabulous, his costume assistant is played by Dame Judy Dench who gets to sing and yes it is her singing, his wife is Marion Cottilard who is having to put up with him, his mistress is Penelope Cruz who has a fine time as a vamp, Nicole Kidman is his actress Muse and Kate Hudson is a journalist who wants to be with him. Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas appears in flashback as a prostitute who the director as a young boy takes his friends to see. If only the DayLewis did not have writer's block.
It is a feast for the eyes and you want get to see such heavyweight female acting talent together in a movie that often if ever.
The poster Wednesday will either love this film or develop a hatred of it as she is asked to analyse the influences on the film or who it could be based on (La Diolce Vita springs to mind and Kidman seems to be modelled on Anita Ekberg).
Worth seeing and it goes on my to buy list. _________________ Beware the Tribble my dear when the moon is fat. |

^oki doki
...
I pretty much loved NINE. Well, all I know its based on Fellini's 8½ (which I saddly havent seen) and basically Fellini. Its visually very beautiful and the D. D. Lewis character's story is like a mosaic made from bits and pieces of all those women. Emotionally it didnt "grab" me for all the 100%, but still it was quite close to it. |
