The book is out so why are we not talking about it ?

A book covering the entire 9 seasons and the two movies and we are saying nothing in the X-Files forum or the Gillian forum ?
(My translations skills ain't up to much so I can't say whether any of the non-English areas are covering this)

Are we so blase that all we are thinking of is the play next year ?

One of us needs to go out and either buy the book to review it or leaf through it and report back. As staunch Gillian fans I would say that someone has to buy it and treasure it.

So there is the plan of action that I am sure we are agreed on.

Understood ?

Good !

Make it so !

Are we sitting comfortably ?

Then I'll begin.

This is a coffee table book filled with pictures from the show and backstage pics as well. It goes into the origin of the show, the casting and how the shows played out. It also says how and when various writers and producers came on board and also the recurring characters including things I did not know like who Sheila Larkin is married to. It details the American Emmy and Golden Globe awards that the show won.
There are some wonderful big colour plate photoes covering two pages.
Thee is a picture of the great Mutato in colour. Because I was so used to the Post Modern Prometheus in black and white I did not recognise it until I saw the description.
There are thumbnail pics of all the shows from the various seasons as an aide memoire at the back.
I'll add more when I have finished buut it is good so far.
I got my copy from Amazon but it was delayed until this week. I wanted it two weeks ago for reasons that regular viewers will immediately grasp.

I've never even heard of it. As always, good job FOX for promoting XF! Can you post a link? I want one.

Possibly the same reason no one has said anything about the FTF kiss that is out and has been for days. XF, quite possibly, doesn't hold the same excitement for some people that it once did.

lol I wouldn't know except I saw it on LJ. Most of my xf info comes from the Livejournal XF friends I still have from way back when. There's the FTF kiss which is only on the Blu-Ray edition as far as I can tell and there's also IWTB bloopers out there which are hilarious.

Where did they get the footage though? FTF blu-ray nor IWTB hasn't been released yet. At least not in the US. Has it been released earlier in other countries?

It's been released in Region 2 like a couple days ago. Not sure why they got it first since we always get the new releases first but oh well.

Hi there-TheatreGirly-and you're right-it's strictly on Blu-Ray-
and Fox evidently had the footage in its archives-J.Lu-and pulled
this deleted/alternate FTF scene out-seemingly like a promo for the BR.

There are a couple of factual errors in the book like crediting Armin Mueller Stahl (sp ?) as Jeffrey Munn and his character in the movie instead of being credited as Strughold and his own name.
Otherwise AOK. More again when I get through it.

Thanks for the info-Tribble-and this is one among several mistakes found-
but it's still a very beautiful book-and a great compilation of show details.

I bought the book when it first came out. It's ok. I feel a lot of the text written is from a fan's perspective and I don't really enjoy that part of the book. I like the quotes from the cast and crew involved in the show's production though, but they really should have left out the fan-like commentary. It ruined my enjoyment of the reading. What I do enjoy about the book are all of the pictures, a lot of the pics I had seen before, but there are at least a couple handful of pictures that I hadn't seen before until this publication. If you're looking for a book to just flip through and enjoy looking at (or to keep as a coffee table book - if you're into having TV show coffee table books) this is a nice book, but don't expect good writing, because it isn't there.

^"fan's perspective " thats a bit weird. If that's something similar to what they had in Extras at some points - "X Files is a great show because blah blah blah..." then I see your point!
