|
|
I haven't posted here in a while, but I got a bit nostalgic and decided to post this, which I posted this past summer in another message board.
If anybody is still interested..... take a look
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My ADH experience
Ok, so now that ADH is officially over, and I have "officially" came out of lurking mode (after talking and spending time with some of you in London, even if at the time I didn't know who we were), I've decided to try and put into words what I felt during June 24 - July 4 during A Doll's House.
I don't want to repeat what all of you previously have said before me, but I do want to echo in your words: Gillian was PERFECTION during this play, she IS beautiful, she is tiny but on stage she looks bigger than life, she cries like no one else does, she is fabulous with us fans (even if on a particular night she wasn't in the mood and you could tell) and she is a fantastic actress!!!
In my own words: this one is my favorite play now (I also saw WTNIF and SSiB), she is funny, she is quirky, she is a little bitchy, she is moody, she is thoughtful, she has a great memory and *do* notices you and what you tell her, and I love her
I saw the play a few times. Well, seven, to be truthful. It was an experience I'll never forget, especially June 25th and June 26th because I was seated on Stalls 16 and 26 respectively, and we all know by now that my seats were great!
Actually, when my friend and I were going to our seats, we had to step back and stay on the hallway, just looking at our seats from a distance, because we couldn't believe we were going to see her so close and we needed time "to prepare".
I couldn't breathe for most of the first night (the 25th) and I got a headache (I think from the emotion) of seeing her so up close. Fantastic performance!!!
On the 26th I was seated in the corner seat exactly where she does her stage exit at the end. Also a very powerful moment for me! During that night I saw her tears (and other fluids coming out of her nose, sorry!) land on the stage!! She was crying so hard! When she cried, I wanted to cry. I did, actually, and I told her afterwards.
Saturday 27th (matinee) I was on the side, and got a great view (that only those sitting at the sides could've seen), of one, only one lonely tear falling down her face (when she knows Thomas is going to read the letter and she says she wants to leave and he says to stay). When that only tear made its way down her cheek my friend and I had to hold hands........ it makes me want to cry now again......
Then I saw it twice on the 4th of July. I couldn't pick a favourite night, or best performance, but the two nights I was so close are favorites, and also the Saturday matinee.
Random moments, comments, and memories:
- On Wednesday (the 24th), me and my two friends were the firsts on the stage door line, I had a "Casa de muņecas" book, (A Doll's House in Spanish), which she signed, not before me explaining that it was the Spanish version, and after she looked at the cover of the book, after which she believed me I guess
- That night I had a very pretty blue ink sharpie, which I lost, because she kept going on signing with it
- On the 25th (when I was in front row) me and my friend quickly stood up and gave her a standing o. We were the only ones on the front row that did it, so she quickly noticed us, and looked at us with a "awwww" expression on her face. That made my night!
- When she was signing my WTNIF book that night I told her she had kept my blue sharpie, and she replied "well, I sent it back", so obviously somebody else kept it
- On the 26th she had a misstep when entering the stage for the curtain call. I almost died thinking she was going to fall, as I was so close to her, but she just smiled to herself and kept on going
- Saturday that's when G asked people at the beginning of the line where they were from? I heard somebody say "Puerto Rico" and I quickly screamed "me too!". When she came to me I said this was my favorite play of her, that she made me cry to which she replied "what, tonight?" I said: "Well, yes, with this play". She said: "oh wow, thanks. Keep on crying" That's the night I gave her my gift and I said to her "this is a book from PR because someday you have to come bacK", to which she said "oh wow, thank you" (all of this is in a youtube video)
- I only saw Mark once .... and he's cute.
- I saw her once when she was arriving at the theatre (street on the back entrance maybe) around 5:30 pm that Wednesday the 24th
- I *really, really, really saw her* on July 4th, when she was entering the Donmar (thru the front entrance) because I was there, by myself, waiting for my friends to arrive so we could go have lunch. So at 12:23 pm, I was standing there, listening to my ipod, when I turned my head left, and there she was! My heart did a HUGE sommersault down to my stomach as I wasn't expecting it! She was wearing a dress, hair high on a big and messy ponytail, glasses, pink purse, another bag on her right hand, and a Starbucks on her left hand! oh! and flip flops........ yeah, in 1.5 seconds I got all of this!! LOL..... I barely moved a muscle but there was also a guy there, and he just went after her inside the theatre, I didn't see anything because I wouldn't dare move or look, but a second later he came out with a signed picture by her. Somebody there asked him "did you get it?", and he showed the pic (old one), and it was signed by G. He also said "oh she's blonde", so I don't think he was much of a fan or he would've known that by now?
- My last night at the play (had a standing ticket) and at stage door, which by some miracle, Claire (Gat's friend) and I made it to be the firsts ones again at the line!! She was very excited and nervous cause it was her first time seeing Gillian in the flesh, and I was also excited and nervous cause it was going to be my last. But we had a great time, G signed for us, with my own sharpie which I kept this time ....... and after she came back to go upstairs I realized I hadn't asked about my gift. So I called for her, she looked back at me, I moved closer to her, she looked at me, I asked "did you like my gift?" to which she answered "did I like your name?" It might have been that I completely lost track of my thoughts but I think I asked her about my gift, not my name so I said, "no, my gift"
G: "which one?
me: "the book"
G: (very sweetly and nicely spoken) "can you please remind me which one because I've gotten a few"
me: "the PR book"
G: "yes, I did like it, thank you very much, and the plaque"
me: "yes!" and I smiled
and she smiled and left
- I was in heaven at that moment and I want to thank Gat and WoD for everything, you know why
Sorry this was so long, but I realized if somebody would enjoy and actually would read all of this, is all of you, for whom all of this might have the same meaning as it did for me.
I know I enjoyed London, A Doll's House, seeing Gillian, and meeting all of you (some for the first time ever, some others, we have met over the years), and I can't wait to see what our girl will do next: movies, plays, whatever she does, I'll be there
If you read all of this, Thanks!

She looks great there! Is that you in the pic btw? And it seems you are all standing in a line there? If so this must be the most civilised signing event ever!!! Makes me feel even worse missing it! lol |

Yes, that's me on the pic
Well, there was a line each night (after the performance) inside the theater, which was quite small, a lot of people couldn't get in and stood outside the doors looking in at all the action inside. Some nights it was civilized and organized but there were nights with too many people and it got crazy too! It all depended on how many fans were there on diff nights _________________ ************************************

Thank you
Most of the nights there were many fans, some nights (like the last week) were crazy!!
Yes, I have been lucky enough to go to all three plays and meeting her once after WTNIF and a few times after SSiB. And now ADH.
She's a darling! _________________ ************************************
